NATIONAL NATURAL LANDSCAPES
The National Natural Landscapes brings together 14 national parks, 16 biosphere reserves and more than 100 nature parks. The objective is to provide a joint presentation for these prime examples of the beauty of nature in Germany. The brand “National Natural Landscapes” is held by EUROPARC Germany, the umbrella organisation of the national parks, nature parks, and biosphere reserves. It is supported by the German Environment Foundation (DBU) as well as the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN).
All over Germany there are landscapes which are protected as the country’s natural heritage. These protected landscapes range from the seemingly endless Wadden Sea mudflats on the North Sea coast to the mysterious forests around the Königssee in Bavaria. They stretch from the source of a small river in the Eifel hills to the expanding Oberlausitz heathland and pond landscapes. Nowhere else offers such ideal opportunities to experience the beauty of nature in Germany as its national parks, biosphere reserves and nature parks – the National Nature Landscapes. Each of them is unique – from the mount Watzmann to the Wadden Sea.
